佛国寺

Bulguksa Temple was established in 751 under Prime Minister Kim Daeseong during the unified Silla Kingdom. Perched on forested Mount Tohamsan in Gyeongju, this UNESCO World Heritage site manifests Buddhist Pure Land cosmology in stone.

불국사는 751년 신라 경덕왕 때 재상 김대성이 현세의 부모를 위해 창건하기 시작한 사찰로, 불교적 이상향인 부처의 나라를 토함산 자락에 현세적으로 완벽히 구현해 낸 유네스코 세계문화유산입니다.

Masterpieces: Dabotap Pagoda (National Treasure No. 20) with intricate stone joints, Seokgatap Pagoda (National Treasure No. 21) reflecting ascetic balance, and the granite Cheongungyo and Baegungyo bridges.

화려한 석조 예술의 극치를 보여주는 국보 제20호 다보탑과 단순미와 균형미의 정점인 국보 제21호 석가탑이 대웅전 뜰에 나란히 서 있으며, 극락전 앞 청운교·백운교 돌계단이 빼어납니다.

October and November bring fiery red maples framing the stone stairs and lotus ponds. Spring brings pale cherry blossoms to the mountain valley, while winter snow accentuates granite masonry lines.

10월 말부터 11월 중순까지 토함산 계곡 전체가 붉은 단풍으로 물들며 청운교와 대웅전 기와지붕을 화려하게 장식합니다. 4월 초에는 사찰 입구 진입로의 벚꽃 터널이 화사합니다.

Open daily 09:00 - 18:00 (March-September) and 09:00 - 17:00 (October-February). Morning visitors arriving at 09:00 experience serene morning chants and tranquil forested courtyards.

사찰 관람 시간은 하절기 09:00~18:00, 동절기 09:00~17:00입니다. 연중무휴로 운영되며, 이른 아침 9시 개장 직후 방문하면 고요한 숲속에서 장엄한 목어와 범종 소리를 들을 수 있습니다.

Admission is completely free following the 2023 National Cultural Heritage entrance fee exemption policy. Parking fees remain modest (around 1,000 - 2,000 KRW for passenger vehicles).

2023년 국가 문화유산 관람료 감면 정책에 따라 불국사 입장료는 전액 무료입니다. 사찰 앞 공영주차장 주차 요금(소형차 기준 1,000원~2,000원)만 별도로 부과됩니다.

From KTX Singyeongju Station, take Express Bus 700 directly to Bulguksa bus stop (approx. 45-50 minutes). From Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, take City Bus 10 or 11 (approx. 35 minutes).

KTX 신경주역에서 좌석버스 700번을 타면 불국사 정류장까지 환승 없이 약 50분 만에 도착합니다. 경주 시외버스터미널 및 황리단길에서는 10번 또는 11번 시내버스를 이용하면 35분 소요됩니다.

The approach from the ticket gate through Iljumun Gate is a shaded gravel path. Ramps provide access to the lower courtyards, though the upper stone terrace stairs require manual assistance.

일주문에서 천왕문에 이르는 솔숲 진입로는 평탄한 마사토 길로 휠체어 주행이 가능합니다. 사찰 입구 종무소에서 휠체어를 무료 대여하며, 대웅전 하부 뜰까지 경사로가 연결되어 있습니다.

불국사 앞 음식촌에서는 토함산 산나물을 정갈하게 담아낸 산채비빔밥과 떡갈비 정식, 몽글몽글 고소한 맷돌 순두부찌개가 오랜 전통을 자랑하는 대표 향토 미식입니다.

Restaurants in the Bulguksa Tourist Complex offer traditional Buddhist temple dining, vegetarian acorn jelly salads, and pure soybean stews prepared without meat broths.

불국사 관광단지 내 채식 한정식 전문점들에서는 화학조미료와 육류를 배제하고 자연산 버섯과 산야초, 두부로 차려낸 건강한 사찰음식 정식을 맛볼 수 있습니다.

Capture the symmetrical Cheongungyo and Baegungyo stone bridges from the lower court early in the morning, and the granite silhouette of Dabotap framed against the wooden eaves of Daeungjeon.

아침 햇살이 비치는 청운교·백운교 돌계단 정면 구도가 엽서 속 명장면이며, 대웅전 회랑 기둥 사이로 국보 다보탑의 정교한 처마 돌조각을 프레임에 넣는 구도가 뛰어납니다.

Bulguksa is an active Buddhist monastery. Maintain respectful quietness, remove shoes when entering wooden temple halls, and avoid taking flash photos of Buddha statues inside shrines.

스님들이 정진하는 수행 도량이므로 정숙을 유지해야 합니다. 법당 안으로 들어갈 때는 신발을 벗고 정숙히 합장하며, 불상 사진 촬영 시 플래시 사용을 엄격히 금해야 합니다.

First aid kits and AEDs are maintained at the temple management office. Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital emergency medical center is located 12km northwest. Dial 1330 for translation.

사찰 종무소와 정문 안내소에 구급의약품과 자동심장충격기가 구비되어 있습니다. 중증 응급상황 발생 시 경주 시내 동국대학교 경주병원 응급의료센터와 긴밀히 연계됩니다.

Nearby sites: Seokguram Grotto (National Treasure No. 24, 7km uphill via shuttle bus 12), Daereungwon Royal Tomb Park (12km northwest), and Hwangridan-gil Hanok Cafe Street.

토함산 정상 방면으로 셔틀버스 12번을 타면 유네스코 세계유산이자 국보 제24호인 석굴암 석굴에 닿으며, 경주 시내의 대릉원 천마총과 황리단길 카페거리로 바로 연결됩니다.

Shuttle Bus 12 runs between Bulguksa and Seokguram once an hour (approx. 20-minute mountain road ascent). Alternatively, a forested hiking trail connects them in 50 minutes on foot.

불국사 주차장과 석굴암을 오가는 시내버스 12번은 매시간 40분에 정기 운행하며 꼬불꼬불한 산길을 20분 만에 오릅니다. 숲속 등산로를 따라 걸으면 도보 약 50분 정도 소요됩니다.

Begin with an early morning tour of Bulguksa and Seokguram on Mount Tohamsan, return to Gyeongju city center for Daereungwon tombs, and finish with night reflections at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond.
