Jeonju Hanok Village

Jeonju Hanok Village comprises over 700 traditional Korean Hanok residences in downtown Jeonju. Recognized as the ancestral seat of the Jeonju Yi royal clan that ruled the Joseon Dynasty for five centuries, it preserves an extraordinary urban architectural heritage.

전주한옥마을은 전주시 풍남동과 교동 일대에 700여 채의 전통 한옥이 군락을 이루고 있는 대한민국 최대 규모의 도심 전통 한옥 보존지구입니다. 조선왕조를 건국한 태조 이성계의 본향으로 500년 왕실 문화의 뿌리를 간직하고 있습니다.

Signatures: Gyeonggijeon Shrine (housing the only surviving authentic royal portrait of King Taejo), Jeondong Catholic Cathedral (striking 1914 Romanesque red-brick cathedral), and Omokdae pavilion on the ridge.

태조 이성계의 어진(국보 제317호)을 봉안한 경기전, 한국 천주교 순교지에 세워진 1914년 로마네스크 양식의 전동성당, 이성계가 황산대첩 승전 후 연회를 베푼 오목대가 대표 유적입니다.

Autumn (October-November) carpets historic courtyards in golden ginkgo leaves, particularly beneath the 400-year-old tree inside Gyeonggijeon Shrine. Spring brings blooming magnolias to private courtyards.

10월과 11월 가을철 경기전 경내의 400년 된 거대한 은행나무에서 떨어지는 노란 은행잎 비와 검은 기와지붕의 대비가 절경입니다. 봄철에는 고즈넉한 토담길마다 목련과 살구꽃이 피어납니다.

Village stone alleys remain open 24/7. Gyeonggijeon Shrine operates 09:00 - 19:00 (March-October) and 09:00 - 18:00 (November-February). Royal Portrait Museum is closed on Mondays.

한옥마을 골목길은 24시간 연중무휴로 언제든 산책할 수 있습니다. 경기전 관람 시간은 하절기(3~10월) 09:00~19:00, 동절기(11~2월) 09:00~18:00이며 경내 어진박물관은 매주 월요일 휴관합니다.

Village walking is free. Gyeonggijeon Shrine charges a modest 3,000 KRW for adults (free for seniors 65+ and children under 6). Traditional craft and Hanji papermaking workshops start at 5,000 KRW.

마을 골목 관람은 전액 무료입니다. 경기전 입장료는 성인 3,000원, 청소년 2,000원, 어린이 1,000원으로 매우 저렴합니다. 부채문화관이나 한지산업지원센터의 전통 공예 체험비는 5,000원부터 시작합니다.

From KTX Jeonju Station, take City Bus 119, 535, or 543 directly to Hanok Village bus stop (approx. 20-25 minutes). Taxis take about 15 minutes and cost around 7,000 - 8,000 KRW.

KTX 전주역 앞 버스승강장에서 119번, 535번, 543번 시내버스를 타면 한옥마을 정류장까지 20분이면 도착합니다. 택시를 이용할 경우 약 15분이 소요되며 요금은 7,000~8,000원 내외입니다.

Taejo-ro and surrounding lanes are flat cobblestoned pedestrian areas with step-free sidewalks. Free stroller and wheelchair rentals are available at the Hanok Village Tourist Information Center.

마을 중심도로인 태조로와 주요 골목은 턱이 없는 평탄한 황토 포장길로 정비되어 있어 휠체어와 유모차가 안전하게 다닐 수 있습니다. 경기전 앞 관광안내소에서 휠체어를 무료 대여합니다.

전주비빔밥 전문점에서는 주문 시 쇠고기와 계란을 제외한 '순채식 비빔밥' 주문이 보편적으로 가능합니다. 마을 내 한옥 식당들에서 들기름에 부쳐낸 두부전과 산채나물 정식을 즐길 수 있습니다.

The wooden boardwalk observation deck below Omokdae pavilion captures the definitive panorama of Jeonju Hanok Village, where cascading grey tile rooflines stretch toward the western sunset.

오목대 정자로 올라가는 목재 데크 전망대에서 바라보는 전경이 최고입니다. 수백 채의 전통 기와지붕이 파도처럼 굽이치는 풍경 너머로 노을이 내려앉는 장관은 최고의 포토제닉 명소입니다.

Vehicle traffic is barred on weekends and holidays along main alleys, creating a pedestrian haven. Visitors should respect residential boundaries and avoid loud noise in private side alleys.

주말과 공휴일에는 태조로 등 중심 골목에 차량 통행이 전면 통제되어 차 없는 보행자 전용 거리로 운영됩니다. 실제 주민들이 거주하는 안골목에서는 정숙을 지키는 에티켓이 필요합니다.
