A 1,200-year-old Buddhist celebration inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Over 100,000 participants parade along Jongno holding illuminated handmade paper lanterns shaped like lotus blossoms, dragons, peacocks, and white elephants, culminating in a joyful street confetti celebration (Daedongnori). Outdoor parade viewing is completely free; free international visitor grandstand seating is available via advance reservation.
